happy one

12 months and you are one year old, buddy.
With a blueberry lemon cake your father made.
And an angel from Gramma, and hugs and help from Gram.
Auntie M made you smile through your fever.

And you had some cake.
 Which you didn't like.
So your father picked off the blueberries, and handed you as many as you wanted. And we all sang happy birthday and wished you well. You are going to need that toothbrush this year.
Happy birthday, Lincoln.

first big snow of 2010

As you can see, he loved it.

merry merry

Christmas morning, his favorite stance.

We had some much needed coffee.

102 degree fever, double ear infection and very little sleep last night...but he kept going.

And played with his father.

And climbed on gifts.

And sat with (a very tired) Mama.

This time last year, we didn't even know him. And here he is, now. What a blessed Christmas.

getting ready for Christmas

It has been one long bout of strep and flu and runny noses around here for weeks now. Lincoln is on his second round of antibiotics after the first didn't do it. Here it is, almost Christmas, and we are just starting to round a corner (I hope). Hanging stockings and pine garlands made it a bit more cheery yesterday.
I finally finished Linc's stocking, started last Christmas before he was born.
Holiday card cradle pic. This was one of the few I got. Most of the time he gives you this 'you gotta be kidding me' look and/or immediately (and very easily now) escapes.

11 months old

Taking these photos is getting harder and harder now that Linc has figured out that he has a say in things. One more month to go, though.

giving thanks

For our families.

At Grandma Ewa and GrandPop's table.

Aunt Catherine helps host 17 this year!

One grandparent working hard while the other offers his opinions. Ahh, feast and family.

Back at his house Linc and Evie get ready for T2.

Just getting over major sick time here, the whole Z family pulls together to help John and I put on a lovely meal. Here Pete works on basting the turkey with advisors looking on.

At our table, where the gravy didn't last and the new stuffing recipe was a hit. We are so lucky, and so thankful, to be able to spend time like this.

saying some things (moving image)

first fever

And first ear infection, and first Strep, and first sinusitis, plus molars moving up...

leads to sad sad boy and first antibiotics today.
And to his second haircut.

surprise!

Happy 60th Gramma.

This weekend all the grandkids got to hug their grandmother, and gobble all-you-can-eat fish, and sit around a bonfire, and eat Grampa's super dupers....and sing happy birthday. All up on Z farm.

falling into a leaf pile

wasn't exactly his favorite new experience this season.

\

He preferred playing with a pinwheel while his father raked instead. Someday though, buddy, you're going to love it!

eating

Lost in all the walking and jabbering that's been going on around here lately is the surprising quantity of food, real honest people food, that Lincoln has been consuming. Suddenly, he eats. Just like his father (but in smaller, mushier, more cubed quantities). For some reason this makes me very happy. My work here is done. ...well, nearly done. ...alright not even close.
