smiles and giggles

John got a first laugh out of Orson today. And a millionth smile from Z.

are worth their weight in whiskey. Especially when they come visit and bring a bottle and a bunch of fun with them.

captain gardener

The kale survived this weird winter and so did the leeks. So we've been eating them. But the garden is suffering from neglect this spring due to the utter exhaustion of the primary gardener. And yet today Lincoln put on his captain's hat and announced that it was time to plant snap peas "like we did before Mama." So, like a vampire I emerged from my dank quarters and stood there in the back yard squinting in the blinding sun and stalling hungry babies as my 3 year old pushed pea seeds into the dirt. And I smiled. And took a deep breath of warm spring air.

he swears by his tatoos

And gives them out freely in the form of stamps. Today: Captain Jack, tatoo artist, leaves Grama covered in them.

O & Z three month old

lincoln and his tree

An Okame cherry, planted as 1.5 calipur inch tree a few months after he was born. Now easily a 3, now that he's three. This spring, we planted a maple and a dogwood for his sister and brother, but it is the flowers on this earliest of flowering cherries that first shoo the winter blahs away each year. This year was no exception.

Orson has them! And he's just beginning to notice that today.

sleep training

Started this evening. That means a fair amount of crying around here. Crying in stereo. And right in the face of the other. Night 1: Z: 5 minutes. O: 55 minutes. Z: 7 minutes more.

23 Ws

Together today at Grandpop and Grandma Ewa's house. All twelve cousins from Wesley to Charlotte. Nine aunt sister uncle  brothers. Two grandparents. An unlimited supply of delicious brunch fare. And a teeny tiny amount of candy in baskets. I wore jeans. Lincoln insisted on wearing this:

And who are we to deny him such a simple pleasure when he clearly enjoyed it more than he enjoyed all the easter candy. A lot more. While the babies got passed around, all the older W cousins sat like quiet, demure sugar-free angels on the steps:
And Orson got some snuggles from Anna.
And there was some healthy snacking had by babies.

And, thankfully, quite a bit of baby snoozing (l to r: Orson, Zephyr, Charlotte).
A wonderful family day.
