Linc likes baths now, indeed in the last several months it has been sometimes difficult to get him to get out of the tub. Maybe it is the warmer weather or maybe he's just abandoned his stubborn habit of screaming needlessly about things that other folks would consider fun. Or maybe it is the rubber ducks. Who knows. He's not really using words to describe his feelings about the world yet. 'Dada' for every happy thing. 'Duh' for duck and 'Doh' for doggie. 'Ah duh' for all done. 'Dat! Dat! Dat!' for "that" thing he's vehemently pointing at in the hopes that we will hand it to him. He loves to regale us with long stories and his most recent thoughts, we just don't quite understand what he means yet. This makes for some frustration on his part, but mostly he's happy to deliver the lecture, sometimes tapping his finger on the table or waving it in the air for emphasis, and then toddle away.
These last few weeks he's developed an extremely effective way to get distractible adults to direct their attention to his desires. If you are holding him and chatting with someone, he'll take your cheeks in both hands, turn your head and position your face so that it is directly looking into his eyes. Once strong eye contact is established, he'll point in the direction of the thing that captured his interest, look back at you, drop his arms and patiently wait for you to chariot him that way. If that doesn't work (which is unlikely, because it is so incredibly cute you can't help but pause a minute and pay attention to him) he'll repeat the process, this time making sure to insert his own head directly into the line of sight between you and whomever you are talking with. No whining. No screams. Just quiet, powerful looks. Pretty smart, little buddy. Pretty smart.
