eating the flag

Etc, on this July 4th.

On Nantucket at Gram's service this morning, Lincoln gathered with other young souls and sang along to several patriotic hymns. Sometimes he was louder than the rest of us. No one seemed to mind.

He got his feet wet at Ladies' beach in the afternoon.

And tried to get his cousin Rosemary to help him stand up during the party later in the day.

He also spent some time on his father's shoulders.

And squirming around on GiGi's lap.

And chilling out with cousin Evie (up for the weekend along with cousin Pete and Aunt Deanna and Uncle Peter).

And watching the sparks fly on Lynda's flag cake.

And much later, watching the bigger sparks in the sky over Jetties (well, really the barge).

And his mother felt very happy, sitting in the sand that night, leaning back on his father....Lincoln asleep on her shoulder.
